NYFW 2022: NYFMC Fashion Show

New York Fashion Week started early for Fashion and Music Conference aka FMC. The VIP event for NYFMC during Fashion Week 2022 was held on Thursday, September 8th at 15 West 38th Street in Manhattan. After an extra 15 minutes of waiting, we were allowed to enter. The venue was on the 2nd floor. This was part of the New York Fashion Week of 2022, the first in-person fashion week in New York since the pandemic.

As a television production company, FMC knows how to organize an event. Everything was also live-streamed on Amazon Fire. There was some coverage on NYFMC’s Instagram page.

While the live coverage of the event is great for the audiences at home, it was actually very hard for photographers to get good full-length pictures of the runway. This is because there had to be a person recording everything right on the runway next to the models. There also wasn’t an official photographers pit (it was just the back of the runway essentially, so very little space for gear), which made it much harder given the number of photographers present. Under these limitations, we did our best to get you coverage of the event.

Event Hosting

The event was hosted by the very talented Deshai Williams from London. Deshai knew how to engage the audience and host for a fashion-forward and enthusiastic crowd. The event started off with the sad news of the passing away of a designer, who was just 31 and was supposed to be presenting at the show. Everyone observed a moment of silence for them.

Musical Performance

The event started with a musical performance from Arielle, a talented singer who set the stage with her performance. Check our her Spotify as well.

Audience

The audience was mostly fashion-forward and knew how to carry themselves. Lots of fashionistas, influencers, and models in the crowd. When one of the audience member was chosen by Deshai the host to do a catwalk with her, she executed that with ease and poise – even better than some models on the runway. You don’t always see audience members in tutus walking down the runway often.
